Take a Cycling Trip to Exeter

Exeter is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK. There is so much to see, withsome of the most popular

places to go in Exeter

being the unforgettable Gothic Cathedral and the 14th century underground passages. One of the easiest ways to see it all is on your bike.

Exeter is also a hugely popular spot for mountain biking as is proved by the success of the

Exeter Mountain Biking

club. A significant membership base has been established since 2001 and the club has recently seen a fantastic response to their Ladies Skills Training Sessions on Thursday evenings so much so they had to run another series on Tuesday evenings, filling that too. As a result the club now runs regular Thursday evening ladies rides at Haldon Forest Park, Dartmoor and Woodbury Common, all of which are a short distance from Exeter. Their Go-Ride skills sessions for 6-11 year olds are also now well established and ensure that basic riding safety skills are learned at an early age, to form sound building blocks for further skill development.

One of the best

things to do in Exeter

is visit

Haldon Forest Park

, which offers 3,500 acres of woodland and is just a 15 minute drive away. The forest provides some exhilarating free cycle trails, from the green (easy) graded Discovery Trail for novices to the red (difficult) graded 9km Ridge Ride Trail for the more adventurous. Whether you explore the forest on foot, by bike, or swinging through the canopy on Go-Ape, you ll find there is something for you just around the next tree!

If you have never been to Exeter before and you want to explore it by bike with confidence then consider hiring a guide to show you around they can also coach your riding skills along the way. Guided rides around Exeter are great for school groups, activity days or even as gifts for friends. Many of these guide services will provide the bikes, helmets and other equipment that you need but it is always worth asking the question when booking.
